Student of the Year Honourable Mention: Ahmad Asdo (Integrated Sciences)

Ahmad Asdo

An additional congratulations to our Honourable Mention for 2023, Ahmad Asdo. Ahmad emigrated from Syria to Canada in 2019, later pursuing a Bachelor of Science at UBC as a transfer student from Aleppo Medical School. Engaging in UBC's Co-op program, he discovered a passion for global health. Ahmad published a paper on a critical health issue investigating the uncertainty of oxygen saturation measurements under the supervision of the director of the Institute for Global Health (BC Children's and Women's Hospitals), Dr. J Mark Ansermino, and the technical lead of the institute, Dustin Dunsmuir. Committed to UBC's community, he aims to excel academically, contribute to global health, and support fellow students, embodying resilience in adversity.
